Happy Camping

Welcome to Greyton EcoCamp!

Greyton EcoCamp an easy 1,5hrs drive from Cape Town and only 3km outside the village of Greyton. Even so, it is still off the beaten track, offering guests a peaceful and secluded getaway in the heart of Nature.

Where the Gobos river and the Riviersonderend meet you’ll find a little bit of Heaven. Chill in the warm plunge pools on the Gobos or swim lap lengths up the Riviersonderend. Tan on the ‘beach'” and explore the banks – or simply enjoy the stunning views and abundant bird-life.

Wintertime is equally beautiful – especially when the surrounding mountains are capped in snow. Its the perfect time to explore the nature reserve and go on walks and hikes. The fynbos and bird life is spectacular all year round! Come back to camp and warm up with a roaring fire and enjoy the peace and tranquility of nature at her best.

Family Friendly: Bring the whole family! There is plenty to do and children love the wide open spaces, playing in the sandpit or on the slide and exploring at the river’s edge. We have a basket ball hoop and a wooden jungle gym for the little ones. There are also family friendly Mountain Biking Trails nearby as well as more challenging routes for the more serious mountain bikers.

Pet Friendly: We welcome your four legged friends to Greyton EcoCamp by prior arrangement. There is plenty of space for them to roam and interact with other furry guests but they need to be well behaved around the horses and cows.

Off Grid & Eco Friendly: Each camp site has a designated fire pit and wood is available to purchase upon request. You are welcome to collect the many pine cones that fall around the campsite, too.

Our ablution blocks have solar showers and lighting and flush loos. We have an indoor scullery area with double sink that is plumbed with hot and cold water. There is also an eco-brick station in the scullery area and recycling collection bins for your paper, glass, plastic and tins at the back of the ablution block.

The grey water from the bathrooms and scullery is directed towards our indigenous trees so we use only biodegradable products. Earth friendly soaps and dish washing liquid are provided but please bring biodegradable products that you may need.

Campers can chose their own spot – by the river, in woodland or out in the fresh open spaces with outstanding views of the mountains. If there is a specific site you wish to book feel free to let us know when you make your reservation with us.

Beautiful Nature: The night skies are crystal clear owing to the lack of ambient light and nightfall hails the chorus of frogs from the rivers. There is an abundance of bird life that can be seen at the EcoCamp so bring along your bird books to identify the many species you can find here.

There is a field kitchen area with two water points – particularly useful for groups and eco-events. We have a number school and Scout groups come to stay each year – many of whom come back to visit with family. We have also hosted retreats and outdoor workshops focusing on eco-education and tree planting with GreenPop. Chat to us about hosting your off-grid camping event at the Greyton EcoCamp – we are happy to tailor a package to suite your needs. We look forward to welcoming you!
